Using the eagle feather when testifying

Indigenous people who have to testify in court may use the eagle feather to make their affirmation to tell the truth rather than swearing on a bible or other religious book.

The eagle feather can be used in any courthouse in Ontario. Many courthouses have feathers for this purpose; but if not, the person can bring their own.

Indian Friendship Centres can assist in providing an eagle feather if the court in your community does not already have one.
