Celebrating education that changes the lives of women subjected to Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)

Education is a powerful tool for both preventing and responding to IPV. It can prevent harm, shift systems, and save lives. It is also a core part of the work we do at Luke’s Place.

As International Day of Education approaches on January 24th, Luke’s Place is reflecting on the role education and resources play in preventing and responding to IPV. Meaningful access to education is vital for women and children navigating family court, as well as for the professionals who support them.

Human Rights Day

On December 10th we globally celebrate Human Rights Day. On this day, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948).

This day also coincides with the final day of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (November 25 – December 10), a global campaign that calls on all of us to speak out and take action to end violence against women,

Launch of the Updated Tech Safety Toolkit

Technology is part of our daily lives, and it changes fast. These changes can help people stay safe, but they can also be used to cause harm. New apps, devices, and websites can give survivors more control, but they also bring risks like spying, pretending to be someone else, harassment, and breaking into accounts.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women: A Call to End the Epidemic of Intimate Partner Violence

Every year on December 6, Canadians pause to remember the 14 young women who were murdered at Montréal’s École Polytechnique in 1989, targeted simply because they were women. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women is both a moment of mourning and a call to action, a reminder that gender-based violence continues to devastate lives,
