Luke’s Place is proud to announce that Advocacy Director, Pamela Cross has been named to the Domestic Violence Death Review Committee (DVDRC) of Ontario.

The Ontario Domestic Violence Death Review Committee (DVDRC) was established in 2002 in response to recommendations that arose from two major inquests into the domestic homicides of Arlene May and Gillian Hadley by their former male partners.

Luke’s Place announces new advocacy and legal directors

We are thrilled to announce that Emily Murray who has been the Luke’s Place Legal Services Director since April 2022, is stepping into the position of Legal Director at Luke’s Place as of January 5, 2023.

Previously, Emily worked as a family law lawyer and as a panel lawyer for the Office of the Children’s Lawyer.

Luke’s Place receives Resilient Communities Fund grant to rebuild and recover from impacts of COVID-19

(Durham Region, ON) – Several months ago, Luke’s Place Support & Resource Centre for Women & Children received the good news that it was receiving a one-year, $136,500 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation. On Monday, MPP Lorne Coe and MPP Todd McCarthy met with the group to hear more about how the grant is helping it recover and rebuild from the impact of COVID-19 to continue meeting the needs of people in the area.
